Getting to, from and around Northstowe will be simple and easy. Northstowe has been designed with fully integrated transport choices in mind offering sustainable options that promote healthy living.

The new Cambridge North Railway Station, located just ten minutes from Northstowe, is easily accessed via the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway as well as lots of new bus routes to accommodate increased demand.

The Longstanton Park & Ride serves the town and there will be several stops on a new dedicated bus route along the spine road through Northstowe as well as integrated cycleways. The Guided Busway and its adjoining cycleway connect the town directly to the City of Cambridge and ultimately beyond to the south via transport interchanges in the City, and to the north via the market towns of St Ives and Huntingdon.

Northstowe will have an emphasis on walking and cycling and promoting a healthy and well balanced lifestyle. A network of safe, pleasant and convenient walking and cycling routes will provide great connectivity into and around the new town offering plenty of choices for everyone.

Not everyone can or wants to walk or cycle, so there will be sufficient provision for car parking amongst the town’s residents and visitors to the town centre provided at a level determined by local planning policy.

Northstowe’s main town centre will also be linked to the upgrade of the A14 by Highways England via a new access road. This will connect Northstowe seamlessly to the existing highway network serving England.

More information on travel benefits can be found in resident Welcome Packs or on the travel plan page.

New residents can also get involved in a travel plan steering group that will have access to further funding of £15,000 per annum to allocate towards sustainable transport measures and initiatives.
