First home to be released for sale at Northstowe development

Construction work has begun on the new town of Northstowe, with the first homes due to be released for sale next month.

Bloor Homes is building the first 92 homes at the development, which will eventually become a thriving new community of up to 10,000 new homes.

The Bloor Homes properties will comprise a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes being built on a 2.6 hectare site to the north east of Longstanton, next to the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway.

The first homes will go on sale off-plan in November, when Bloor’s sales office off Station Road will officially open to the public, and the first residents will move into the development in the spring of next year.

Monika Hanlon, Regional Sales Director for Bloor Eastern, said: “It is an honour to be the first housing developer to deliver new homes in Northstowe, the largest planned settlement in the country for the past 50 years.

“This is an extremely exciting development which will help to meet the high demand for housing in the area by creating a vibrant and sustainable new neighbourhood in an attractive location within easy reach of Cambridge city centre.

“Our homes have been carefully designed to reflect the character of the local area and to blend in with their surroundings, and now construction work is underway we are looking forward to welcoming the first visitors to the site next month.

“The first primary school at Northstowe, which is located close to the homes we are building, has been completed and will open next year. Our residents will also benefit from super-fast broadband connection as soon as they move in and will be just a stone’s throw from the Longstanton Guided Bus Stop.”

The Bloor Homes development will form part of the first phase of Northstowe, which is planned to include up to 1,500 homes, a primary school, community building, shops, business premises, open space and sports facilities.

Access to the development will be provided from the B1050 Station Road and a number of new pedestrian links will be created from the site.
